A Few Things I'm Working On

These are a few paintings that I'm working on. Hopefully since I have a few days off work (Whoo Hoo!!!)I'll have time to finish them. Hopefully.... Who knows??? The plans are to go and spend some time with my Mom hopefully, we'll spend the whole morning going to yard sales (I love finding a deal..who doesn't)then we're having lunch with the girls. We usually try to have lunch together at least once a week.(a girl has to catch up on her gossip you know that's what us women do when we get together) We're going to one of my favorite Southern Restaurants Betty's Mae's, they make the best fried chicken (just thinking about that food is making my mouth water) And..... We promised Thing1 and Thing2 (my two little girls )that we would take them to see Shrek  sometimes this weekend! Yeah? Hopefully some art will get finished ?

Wondering and Daydreaming...

So, I have been wondering and daydreaming alot lately. This e-course is coming up next week and I cant wait! I have meet so many nice people from the class and even gained a few followers. I am so thankful for  that. I still am a little taken back by some of the comments. I guess, I'm just surprised that someone actually looks at my art( I mean people who aren't my family):) You, just don't know how excited I get to see that number go up. It really makes my day it's  funny how something so small can make someone so happy!  So, lately I have been wondering where will this art thing take me? What can I do with my art, who will if anyone would like to buy it and how can I market it and get it out there? I'm am so glad and thankful to be taking this class with Kelly Rae Roberts,  she will be discussing some of these topics in her class and I'm counting down the days! So until then I'll be wondering and daydreaming ....

Something a Little Different

This is a dragon fly that I painted. ( Just trying something different) I used pages out of an old book for the background just to make it a little interesting. I wanted the colors on the fly to be a muted so I used watercolor on the wings and outlined it in black. I love the way it looks but.....I must admit that it doesn't really look this defined anymore. Lets just say that it a bad run in with a can of varnish. I will tell you guys about that in another post entitled "What Not To Do!!!" LOL! :)

God gave me 7 days with u

Okay, so not only am I in love art among so many other things ....I also love spoken word poetry. I used to write a long time ago ( Maybe I'll share it one day) But, as I was checking out videos on You Tube ( where I spend to much of my time)and came across this. I love the poem and I think she is beautiful.My hopes are to one day write some spoken word poetry. I hope you guys enjoy! Just another piece of me...

I Hate Mondays #2

Okay, so....that other "I Hate Mondays" didn't grow on me. I guess I just felt like the background was a little to busy for me. (If that makes sense?) Any way it goes I wasn't in "Love" with it ! So, I changed it to something that I am in "Love" with.I used gesso on  the background that was there and  I went with what most people would call Aqua Blue but, as me and  my friends call it Yummy Blue ! lol  (I think it just sounds much more happy that way!) I also put a little bit of shadow around the girl I think it kinda makes her pop out from the background a little bit  more and I love the No Mondays sign. I hope you guys aren't to mad at me for changing it. I just feel like..... I just don't want to create art that looks OK or NICE I want everything that I create to be something that I love and would hang in my own home or office. So, don't be afraid to try something new I did with this painting and if you don't like what you see then change it.Some of my favorite pieces have came from art that I felt I messed up. :) So, make happy messy that's the only way you will  learn what does and doesn't work for you!

I Hate Mondays (Pictorial)

So, this is my first Pictorial. Hope you guys enjoy it. This is my first painting that I was somewhat asked to do. My twin sister ( which I'm sure you will meet in the future)wanted something that she could hang in her office. It was either I Hate Mondays or Thank God for Fridays. ( maybe she'll get the other, one of theses days ) :) Not sure if I like the background of the painting but, I guess we'll see  if it grows on me within the next few days ?

First,  I sketched and outlined the pictured I wanted to paint on a 9x12 canvas.

 I used these 2 colors to shade and color her face. These are the watercolor pencils that I usually use for most of my painting. They are great to use for skin tone. The pencils don't have the name of the colors on them but,
It was a tan color that I used for shading

The light and dark green pencils were used to color the shirt and the yellow and gold for the earrings.

I used I dark orange and yellow orange for the hair. ( I must say that I really like the Green and Orange together)

Now, just add some water to the brush and fill in all the colored places.( except the face ) I also went ahead and colored the background purple.

Oh, almost forgot the eyes I used the same color I used for the shirt to color the eyes.

I added some text to the background and some pink circles and some other details and there you have it! My I Hate Mondays !

Mixed Media

So, this is my first Mixed Media Painting. I collage the background with different types of scrapbook paper. The girl was actually drawn and painted on watercolor paper. I must admit this was one of the first painting I ever done on watercolor paper but, I like the way she kinda pops out from the background! What do you guys think?
